Busy Fingers

It says in Scripture that God does not take pleasure in idleness. One way to guard against this during your spare time is to learn to do some sort of needle work. Some ideas are:

• Knitting

• Crocheting

• Cross Stitch

Sewing

• Quilting

• Embroidery

• Candlewicking (a type of embroidery)

• Luceting (a method of making cord used by women for making laces for their corsets, etc.)

These occupations can afford you much pleasure, and are productive as well as enjoyable. You can use these skills to make many useful things that could be gifts or go into a hope chest. There are many kits available that make it easy to learn a variety of skills. I have found that Klutz has very good, easy to understand kits for knitting, crocheting and other crafts.
