Butterick Pattern #6816

dresses

I altered the pattern slightly on both of these dresses. On both, I attached the ruffle by sewing it to the dress under, rather than on top (matched the bottom of the skirt to the top - the gathered part - of the ruffle, with right sides together. Make sense??).

On the purple dress, the only other thing I did different from the pattern was to shorten the sleeves.

On the white dress, I did not put lace around the neck, and I made the sleeves puffed (it was made for an event where I was to dress as Anne Shirley from "Anne of Green Gables" by L.M. Montgomery). I just cut the sleeves the same length, but didn't taper them like the pattern. Then before I sewed the seam to form the sleeve, I put a small casing about 1/3 of the way down and put elastic through it. I also put elastic through the cuff, so when both are pushed up, they "puff".
