I am pleased to announce the first Maidens of Virtue Essay Contest!
In previous years we have done a poetry contest; this year we decided to do something different. Since we weren't sure how the response would be, we took a poll and poetry and essay tied! So we did a random drawing to decide and... essay won! For those of you who voted for the poetry contest... don't worry, I'm sure we'll do it again!
All right, on to details!
This contest is open to all girls ages 9 to 25. There are two categories:
~ Young ladies ages 9-14
Subject: Having Joy in Your Heart
Write an essay...
~ Young ladies ages 15-25
Subject: A Sister's Role in her Sibling's Life
Write an essay...
One Grand Prize and, depending on how many entries we receive, several runners up will be awarded in each category. Click here for the contest Prize Page.
You are welcome to enter as many essays as you like; however, you may only be awarded one prize.
Entries must be received or postmarked by May 1st, 2009. Entries received/postmarked after this date will be disregarded. Entries may be submitted electronically or by mail. Send entries to:

All entries must include entrant's name, age, mailing address, telephone number, email address, and title of the poem.* All entries must be the original work of the entrant. Entrants under the age of eighteen must have the permission of their parent(s) or guardian to enter the contest.
Entrants retain all rights to their work and are free to use or publish them elsewhere if they desire.
Grand Prize winners will be contacted on or before May 15, 2009. Winners and runners up will be announced on MaidensOfVirtue.com and on The Girlhood Gazette blog, on May 15, 2009.
